THE CHOIRS AT HEMET HIGH
At Hemet High we currently have 3 choral ensembles: chamber singers, adv. women's ensemble (a.w.e), and concert choir.
Chamber Singers is an auditioned mixed (SATB) ensemble comprising of 24 singers. This ensemble performs choral music from the Renaissance (15th century) era to Modern (present day) era, both a cappella and accompanied.
Adv. Women's Ensemble (a.w.e) is an auditioned ensemble for treble voices comprising of 24-28 singers. This ensemble performs advanced choral music written for female voices.
Concert Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble that is for both the beginning and intermediate singer. This ensemble works on the fundamentals vocal techniques, musicianship, and performing.
Each year we perform 5 concerts in the HHS Performing Arts Center. In addition, our auditioned ensembles travel to choral festivals and colleges across the Southern California region, and have performing opportunities off-campus.
The focus of our choral program has three parts:
Community - we strive to make our choirs welcoming to any and all students, we find the best choral option for each student, and we strive to build relationships throughout each choir and the overall choral program.
Excellence - we strive to build musical skills; reading music, vocal techniques, and performing, as well as setting goals and working, as a group, to achieve such goals and experience incredible music making.
Tradition - we strive to build traditions through our community of students and our pursuit of musical excellence, in order to create lasting relationships and experiences.
